Send and Ripley History Society
The Send and Ripley history society is a friendly, welcoming local group for anyone interested in local history. The aim of the society is to to educate the public in the history of the ancient parishes of Send and Ripley and of any of the neighbouring parishes. With 320 current members the organisation is a busy, thriving and popular group within the local community.
We started in 1975 and in the early 1990's added a small museum located in the area next to the village hall. In normal times our modest annual membership fee entitles members to four or five lectures and six magazines a year. In addition there are a number of outings each summer, at a small extra cost. Our museum won accreditation from Arts Council England in 2018.
Meet the Chairman - Cameron Brown
I am its current chairman and the publisher of our bi-monthly magazine (in a previous life I was a book and magazine publisher.) We have an enthusiastic and knowledgeable membership who have taught me a great deal about the area since I moved here in 2006.
We look forward to welcoming new members when life returns to closer to normal. You don't have to be a historian - just interested in the place you live in.

Covid-19 Response
We have had to close the museum (thought it is open by appointment to single-family groups) and cancel talks and outings but have kept our bi-monthly journal going. We are inviting members to zoom talks on subjects which might normally be discussed at a meeting in the village hall.
